Around 701 million people worldwide live without access to clean water.
Nearly 1 in 10 people around the world—equivalent to twice the population of the United States—lack access to clean water. The majority live in remote rural areas, where they spend hours each day collecting water for their families. This daily struggle keeps children out of school and parents from earning an income. Even worse, the water they gather is often contaminated, leading to illnesses that impact entire families.

Women and girls shoulder the responsibility for water.
Globally, they spend an estimated 200 million hours each day collecting water—a burden that limits opportunities for education, work, and personal growth.
